Matt Leacock is interviewed by TIME

Pandemic designed by Matt Leacock

Modern board games have been becoming more and more mainstream in recent years so it may come as no surprise that a recent TIME.com article interviews Matt Leacock, designer/inventor of Pandemic, Forbidden Island, Forbidden Dessert, Roll Through the Ages: The Bronze Age and the recent Knit Wit.

The interview talks a little bit about how Matt broke into the industry and started out self-publishing his games before Kickstarter existed, his favourite game of all time, his design process and the gaming industry as a whole.

Excerpt from the interview: "There’s a lot of innovation happening, a lot of people stretching the space. It’s easy to get funding. There’s a lot of innovation happening in manufacturing, it’s pretty cheap coming out of China, you’ve got 3D printing, you’ve got all the different innovations coming in from electronic devices, different people trying to do different things. Trying to get iPads or tablets to complement board gaming. So there’s a lot of experimentation."
