What’s Been Going On - Part 3: I Played Lanterns with Designer Christopher Chung

WOW! Geeky Goodies has been so busy! To busy to blog, even! I’m sorry that we’ve been neglecting you Bits + Pieces Blog. In an effort to catch up, I thought I would do a series of blog posts about what’s been happening here at Geeky Goodies HQ during the past little while.

Here is a little bit about what we’ve been up to. Watch for more coming soon!

I Played Lanterns with Designer Christopher Chung

If somehow, you haven’t played Lanterns: The Harvest Festival yet, I strongly recommend you run out and get yourself a copy! It’s an fast, easy-to-learn, fun-to-play, family tile-laying game for 2-4 players and we love it in our house. Beautiful artwork (by the uber-talented Beth Sobel), elegant design and almost no down-time in the game at all.

I was thrilled when I got to meet Chris Chung for the first time at a local event. He is an interesting, genuine, humble and thoughtful guy. I got to play his game, Lanterns: The Harvest Festival with him and a couple of friends at Snakes and Lattes – and he even signed my copy of the game! I didn’t win the game but it will be remembered as a highlight of 2016 for me for sure.

I have met him and played a few other games with him since then and even done some play-testing with him and I feel lucky to live in a city like Toronto, with such a thriving game community where I can meet designers like Chris and play games with him.
